Snow Storm ... November 30 - December 1, 2006Okay, so we don't exactly live in Buffalo, but this was still a pretty impressive storm. We got about an inch (or a little more) of sleet on Thursday before it turned to snow Thursday night and we had ~14" on the ground Friday morning. As of noon Friday, they still had not plowed our street ... and neither my truck nor Beverly's little SUV have 14" of ground clearance ... so I decided to post some photos while waiting for the plow. (Note: click on any thumbnail photo to see a larger version, then use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page.)First, a photo of my lovely wife Beverly shoveling ... as you will see below, she did wonderful job ... (hey, somebody had to take the pictures!): Next, here are a few photos showing the depth ... the first is just outside the garage door (17.5"), the second was in the middle of the driveway (14"), and the third was by the street (13.5") ... the drift in front of the house was bigger, but I didn't venture out to measure it: And here are a few shots of the house and driveway ... the first three were taken by Beverly shortly after there was enough light to do so ... to give you a frame of reference, those glowing areas in the snow are our landscaping lights, which are 16" tall: The statues: The street ... the second photo is Don, our neighbor, taking a run at the hill with his lineman truck ... the third photo is the kid from up the street playing with their four-wheeler (I say "playing" because the street had not yet been plowed and he wasn't making much of a dent): Okay, so I fibbed ... I did a little shoveling also: And finally, a few miscellaneous photos ... the houses across the street had some cool drifts on their roofs ... little snowballs that formed when small chunks of snow rolled down our font lawn as I was shoveling the front walk ... and later in the afternoon, the evergreen tree next to our lot grew some really cool (no pun intended) ice sickles: To be continued ... (maybe) ...
