Here are some photos of the ice storm that came through December 9, 2007 ... we were heading out to take a bunch of pictures (the county has done a great job of keeping the roads from icing up), but we didn't even get out of the neighborhood before we ran into wires and branches across the road, so this is all I have so far ...

A couple nights later, as I stood out on my front porch before turning in, I can only describe the sounds as "eerie" ... there was the steady sound of the light rain falling ... then every 20-30 seconds, I could hear a "craaaacccckkkk" followed by the swooshing sound of large branches and parts of trees breaking under the added weight of the ice build-up ...  and here are some photos from Dec 10-14 ...

We were lucky ... our oaks and hickories held up pretty well ... but as you can see from the photos, a lot of folks weren't so fortunate ... overall, we were blessed because it could have been much worse (the temperature stayed at about 33°F all night Monday night as it was raining) ...
