2009 Vegas TripTo celebrate finally selling our house, we traded a week of timeshare to Vegas in late March. We stayed in the southern part of town next to a casino called (appropriately enough) South Point, and we spent very little time on The Strip ... but we had a great view of Mt. Charleston ... We spent one day driving through a couple of wonderful scenic areas ... first, Red Rock Canyon: (Note: as with most photos on this site, you can click on any thumbnail photo to see a larger version, then use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page. All photos were reduced in size for quicker download ... if you want a full-res version of any photo just let us know!)(if you look very closely in the third photo above, you will see a person "hiking" though the rocks)Then Valley of Fire State Park: The last photo above is of "Elephant Rock" ... you have to squint a little and use your imagination, but he's in there (hint: he's facing to the left). We also took several photo "spreads" to try and grasp the beautiful scenery, but we haven't stitched them back together yet ... we'll post them as soon as we can. The remainder of the week was mostly spent relaxing and goofing off ... South Point Casino was great, so we didn't miss The Strip (though we did venture up there once to walk around and gamble) and we only went to see one show this time (KA) ... Greg visited the Callaway Golf Center and was fit for a set of clubs, and we walked through a large security trade show that happened to be in town the same week ... for the record, Beverly won the biggest jackpot of the week ($65) on our last evening, which bested the one that Greg had won ($59) just a few hours earlier ... (Note: Greg didn't take his big camera this time, so these photos were all taken by Beverly and Greg using Beverly's Sony Cybershot DSC-W50.) |
