| Bugles. I have two single-valve bugles, which
I think would make a cool matched set of lamps. My plan is to build
the switch into the valve, which will be vertical if I mount the bugle
bell-down (as you can see, I have already removed one of the valves for
inspection), but I'm willing to consider other options if someone wants
these built into lamps. (Slingerland) |

| Clarinet 2. Good condition ... the silver
parts have oxidized to a bit of a greenish tan color. (Rene Dumont) |
|
| Clarinet 3. Good condition ... very similar
to #2 ... the barrel is stuck to the upper joint so I may just make this a
taller lamp rather than risk damaging the upper joint by forcibly removing
the barrel. (Pruefer) |
|
| Clarinet 4. A very attractive metal clarinet
... very popular for lamps. (This instrument has been spoken
for ... look for it soon on the Clarinet Lamps page.) (Orsi) |
|
| Clarinet 5. Another cool old metal clarinet,
with a tarnished finish which I think gives it a lot of character. (Sonata
Deluxe) |
|
| Clarinet 6. A heavily tarnished metal
clarinet. I'm not sure what the original color was, but it seems to
have a coppery tint to it, which I think looks very cool with the
extremely dark oxidation. (Rene Dumont) |
|
| Cornet 1. Decent physical condition ...
missing some lacquer, but those areas are oxidizing nicely ... I may even
strip the remaining lacquer so that the whole horn will oxidize. (Henri
Lavelle) |
|
| Horn 1. A pretty cool silver Eb Alto Horn
that my sister found at an auction. I haven't decided how to best
make it into something else, but it should be interesting! It's not
oxidizing evenly, so I may have to polish it when I integrate it into a
lamp. (King) |
|
| Trombone 1. An unnatural yellowish color, and
no tuning slide. I've left it lying around for a few years to see if
it would oxidize or do something interesting, but no such luck.
Maybe I'll use it in a fountain instead of a lamp. (Pan American) |
|
| Trombone 2. A very old (circa 190x) trombone
in pretty darn good shape, except for the fact that it's not a good
player. I've been saving it for a something special. (J.W. York and
Sons) |
|
| Trombone 3. The photo shows it with a bit of
yellow tint, but it's actually a very nice silver color and in decent condition ... the adjustment
mechanism on the tuning slide is interesting, but prevents me from using
it in one of my normal bell-up designs, so I'm still contemplating how
best to use this guy. (Henry Pourcelle Superior) |
|
| Trumpet 1. Lots of character, and showing its
age ... sort of an olive tint on the brass ... a couple of mediocre solder
joints. (Windsor) |
|
| Trumpet 2. Very old ... will probably require
a least one minor repair before I can assemble it into a lamp, but I think
it'll be worth it. (A.K. Huttl Graslitz) |
